This year’s OC Brew HAHA event was one that did not disappoint.  The event, that was held at the Hidden Valley Park in Irvine, CA was not for the faint at heart with almost 50 breweries in attendance.  The attendees also had a huge selection of some wonderful catering vendors and  food trucks to grab some wonderful .  This Venue is a near perfect setting that has a nice large area to setup for both the Beer and Food vendors.  (Unfortunately, rumor is this will be last year at this site!)

Attendees that purchased the VIP tickets were allowed to enter a bit early.  This makes it very nice to hit your favorite breweries, before the lines got long, or they ran out of beer! (Like we saw with several including Magic Hat)

There were some amazing talks given this year by Dr. Bill,  Ed Heethuis and Jonathan Porter.  There was even a sighting of David Walker from Firestone Walker Brewing.

The day started off very strange with an electical storm over most of the area!  It cleared out shortly before the start of the event, which gave the skys a nice blue sparkle that we normally do not get everyday here in SoCal!

Some of the standout breweries for us included a new comer, Butchers Brewing.  Rey and his fantastic IPA was one of the best in show by far.  There was also Sierra Neveda that brought down there Tumbler, which is a fantastic Autumn beer that everyone should have in the fridge.  Deschutes was also in attendance and brought the last of thier Twilight Summer Ale. And another great  surprise  was Crispin that brought a blackberry cider that was out of this world.

A couple that missed this year was Skyscraper Brewing as well as Anderson Valley Brewing. We hope they will make the trip next year!

On the food front, we sampled some great bbq from BT’s Southern BBQ.  In additon, the duck taco’s from Stone Catering was “OFF THE HOOK”.

To end the day, we wandered down near the presenters stage to check out the firetruck!  To out surprise, it was actually a Mobile Pizza Store known as Company 77.  There was a great pesto pizza coming from the rear of the truck and the great Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA pouring out of the front of the truck!

The day was topped off by a fantastic performance my the Orange County Fire Authority Pipes and Drums band.  This is of course one of the reasons this event happens is to benefit the OC Firefighter Fund!

The event went off without a hitch and the entire staff did a great job.  Special thanks to Tiffany that hooked up our fellow bloggers with a discount code this year!

We look forward to next years event, no matter the location.
